June's Pick: Arthur's Organic Gravlax
Always be longing my days in Montréal. This city has so much to offer, especially its food scene.
Arthur's definitely a popular to not only the locals in St-Henri hood, but any foodies in MTL. Serving popular Jewish specialties, Arthur's brunch items are well-portioned and beautifully-plated! Heads up, they don't take reservation (IKR? classic busy-classy-i-know-my-worth kind of restaurant) and I love it!
The neon sign in you're seeing is literally sig-na-ture because it stays lit at night even when doors are closed. While lining up with my dear friend Sisi, a lovely lady came out and offered us Babka and freshly brewed coffee! Way to win my heart before I even sit my buns down!
For those don't know, babka is a dense bread that’s swirled with chocolate or cinnamon and often topped with nuggets of cinnamon-sugar streusel - a popular Jewish dessert!
These are the moments that will stay in my memory! Arthur's live up to the true meaning of the word hospitality through the smallest gestures.
The weather was kind cold as well so we were LIVING for the hot coffee!
We waited about 20 mins (lucky us!) before getting seated in a quite narrow & crowded dining room with table-by-table settings (insert no space between us reference) with an open kitchen in the back and a counter to the right.
The room can sit about 40-45 folks max (I think) and your well-explained menu is accompanied with a branded HQ napkin. If you've read my May's pick blog for Felix, you'll know about my obsession with an open-kitchen dining room! It's always the best dining experience being able to see what's going on behind the scene!
My first dish at Arthur's was the popular Organic Salmon Gravlax that comes with beet and apple (stunning choices), shallots, lemon, caviar, sour cream, tomatoes, and black Russian toasts! - THE BEST smoked salmon I've had, ever! The dish is so well-put-together that my mouth was dancing to a sweet, sour, and savoury rhythm of the ocean.
Sisi went for the classic Eggs and Salami because you can't really go wrong with quality smoked salmon with scrambled eggs! The dish was served with pressed challah rolls, an egg-based bread roll often used in ceremonial occasions.
Service was incredible as I've pictured above and the place is worthy to be lining up for!
