January's Pick: Get In Line for The Fed
Picture this: a sunny weekend, you and your favourite people are hungry after waking up, and there's a place in town that serves a hella delicious eggs-benny and burgers with griddle-smashed beef, bacon, pickles, american cheese, caramelized onion.
Are you getting in line? Well I did! Here comes the brunching experience at The Federal!
A full house as always and if you're familiar with local restaurants with good food in Toronto, they're usually small and cozy like this!
I went with my favourite person, Alice (aka @meetandeats on Instagram). We arrived at around 1pm ish on a busy Saturday and waited in line for about 15 minutes.
Classic American menu with leather linen and a rustic plastic cover! What I love about the Fed right away is that this brunch menu is available everyday! Yes! It means they serve brunch all-week-long from 9AM - 3PM!
At the Fed do don't wait to get served water, they'll give you a bottle and let you be the gentleman! And so I went and poured it out for my fellow lady Alice and she went "Oh waaa! Huy's being a gentleman today!". (We both knew I was doing it for the gram LOL!)
Another wonderful reason to brunch at the Fed is the absolutely fantastic day-drinking options! Within the cocktails selection, The colourful one at the front was my choice - the HIBISCUS SHANDY ($7), while Alice went with a KW CRAFT CIDER ON TAP - classic Alice!
Now to this sexy beast called the "FOUR GUYS BURGER" with griddle-smashed beef, bacon, pickles, american cheese, caramelized onion, lettuce, mustard, and the Fed's special sauce! Alice got this for $14 and she was satisfied although a comment was "it kinda reminds me of the big mac!"
I ordered what I consider one of the best things about brunch: eggs-benny! At the Fed, the dish is called "EGGS FEDERAL" and I have nothing but complements for it! I absolutely felt in love with the mushroom tarragon cream sauce!!! And of course I added bacon to my order, because ya don't brunch without bacon!
Overall, The Federal is a yes for me and definitely is a gem in the Dufferin Grove area!
Would you just look at how gorgeous our seating was?!!! This window seat with the weekend sun added 1000000 points to my liking of this place!
They also serve dinner from Tues-Sun and more details can be found on their website at: www.thefed.ca!
